knowledge really is power.

Many years ago my father turned me on to the idea of watching a single TED video a day.  What’s a TED video you ask?  TED videos are ideas worth spreading.  Five, ten, sometimes twenty-minute videos showcasing someone average standing in front of an audience, sometimes showing slides, talking about a topic that they are head over heels passionate about.  They are riveting talks about remarkable people, free to the world.  Many years ago I started to watch these videos, everything from extreme swimming with the world’s most dangerous jellyfish to flying robots.  Every time I watch a TED video, I feel empowered.  A little bit smarter.  A tad more intelligent.

And more than that, I get excited all over again about this amazing world we live in.  About how that saying :you can do anything you put your mind to: is SO freaking true!  The world is our oyster!  I now have the TED app on my iPhone, iPad, and bookmarked as a favorite site on my Pro.  If you can find one ten-minute segment out of each day, to enlighten yourself and take in a passionate talk about something, anything, you will be become a better, more informed person.  I swear.

Today’s TED talk was hilarious.  And sometimes they are.  Not only do I get to learn something, but I get to laugh-out-loud, too?  Sign me up.

Take 9 minutes and 15 seconds out of your day to watch.

I hope you enjoy it – you can thank me later.  xo

  1. I LOVE TED videos! Thanks for the reminder as I haven’t watched any lately… I need to get back into the habit of watching them. It’s always a great use of one’s time. I will take your suggestion and watch the one you posted also… because who doesn’t want a good laugh?

I liked the John Cleese TED on how to foster creativity…although I didn’t agree with all of his premises – he had GREAT advice on how to function as a creative. Good advice to check out TED Emm tx!
