A continuation of the last post – we woke up and drank Rumchata with iced coffee. There will be no warm beverages this entire weekend. Afterwards, we ate baby apricots and painted our nails. I chose this beautiful dark gray O.P.I. in French Quarter for Your Thoughts.
We put on some workout clothes and Katie brought me to one of her regular gyms. This one is called Independence Gym and used to be owned by Hell’s Angels. I walked in and immediately was brought to Jersey Shore. It was meathead CITY! There was so much testosterone in that gym I felt like I was completely out of my element. Guys were eating whole live chickens in the cafe area for protein. No, but really, it was a true snapshot of the general male public in Arizona. Huge, buff, tattoos, and slick hair. We ran sprints and pushed weight on the turf… most of it was people watching time while sweating. This was how I felt leaving that gym.
We checked out a few shops in Old Town Scottsdale one of which is called FireDaughter Clothing. She used to make shirts that were geared towards daughter’s of Firefighters (super small nitch) – now they aim towards the fitness world. Here is one of my favorite screen-printed tanks in the shop. Running absolutely is a privilege. So true!
I found an accessory online that I wanted to purchase – instead of spending $7 in shipping, I found it in a store in Fashion Square Mall. We made a quick pitstop (in full beads of sweat and workout clothing) to Armani Exchange to pick it up. Now, I’m not obsessed with having brands and designer logos so truly, this could have been sold at Target. Just so happened AE sells it, I decided it was worth the splurge.
We went home and got presentable (cold, COLD shower) and showed a house to one of Kates real estate clients. Afterwards, we grabbed a late lunch with Jenn. I met her many years ago in AZ on one of the visits. She is truly inspiring and has SO much energy. She owns Soul Carrier bags and every chance we are together it’s a brainstorming creativity session. I absolutely love her. We met her at Chelsea’s Kitchen – a super great spot in Phoenix. We ordered a pitcher of their world famous white sangria and their chicken nachos. Both of which I highly recommend. The three of us sat and chatted for a few hours about life, love and the pursuit of creative freedoms.
As we walked out they had a platter of Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies to enjoy on your ride home. A sweet touch!
To stay hydrated we are constantly drinking beverages and had to make a pitstop for some. Kates highly recommends the raspberry hibiscus tea at AJ’s. We got larges to go.
The rest of the evening was spent indoors laughing and playing Cards Against Humanity. If you don’t yet know what that is, you soon will. Think Apples to Apples with a truly inappropriate and hilarious twist. Never a dull moment.
Cheers to a somewhat sweaty restless sleep,
